We knew from the fact it was a Detroit Optimist Society venture that it was going to be special. Stepping inside, we were not disappointed. It has a really cool throwback vibe that is classy and intimate. From the gorgeous bar back to the color scheme and fun jukebox, the decor was perfect. At first we sat at a table, but moved to the bar when seats opened up. There is no better place to sit if you want to watch the drinks being made and share interesting conversation with friendly bartenders. We had three drinks: 1. The Hiatus Cowboy (Espolon Resposado, mole syrup, Angosturo bitters & grapefruit) Similar to an old-fashioned, this was delicious. The tequila was perfectly subtle. 2. Cut the Chase (milk-washed Evan Williams bourbon, Ameretto Fratelli d'italia, lemon juice, ginger syrup & Peychauds bitters). This was my favorite. It reminded me of an elevated whiskey sour. 3. Encantorito (Espolon Blanco, Los Vecinos mexcal, grapefruit juice, lime juice & chamay syrup) This was the only one I didn't care for - It was very smoky in flavor. I did love the chamay syrup they used, however, so I may see if they can downplay the mezcal next time.
